As a member of the Risk Management and Compliance team, you play a crucial role in maintaining the strength and resilience of J.P. Morgan Chase. Your efforts help the firm expand its business responsibly by identifying new and emerging risks and applying your expert judgment to address real-world challenges that affect the company, customers, and communities. The Credit Risk Middle Office (CRMO) is an integral part of the Reporting Middle Office and Control organization within Corporate Risk. Their primary focus is to support the Wholesale Credit Risk Organization on a global scale. Key responsibilities include monitoring limit breaches, maintaining ongoing credit risk client relationships, and resolving operational issues.

Job responsibilities

  • Communication/Presentation: Develop strong communication skills to effectively influence stakeholders in a meaningful and actionable manner.
  • Operations: Provide comprehensive support for Credit Risk Management by performing and overseeing various functions, including line facilitation/maintenance, client data management, limit breach monitoring and investigation, and NAV gathering. This may involve reviewing prospectuses and annual reports, as well as participating in user acceptance testing for technology changes to core business applications.
  • Control Mindset: Build a thorough understanding of processes to develop and maintain strong control adherence, including the ability to analyze problems and find solutions.
  • Metrics: Learn to review key metrics to aid in workflow and SLA adherence.
  • Decision Making/Judgment: Exercise low to moderate levels of independent decision-making using sound judgment.
  • Change Management: Collaborate with CRMO leads and stakeholders to help define business cases for process/reporting improvements and see them through to implementation.
  • Problem Solving/Analytical Skills: Demonstrate solid critical thinking, attention to detail, and analytical skills; able to synthesize large amounts of data and formulate appropriate conclusions.
  • Understanding Root Cause/Identifying Control Breaks: Raise issues promptly to management and assist in providing sustainable solutions.
  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Participate in initiatives to promote a diverse culture of respect, equity, and inclusion.

About you

Minimum skills, experience, and qualifications

  • Entry-level or 1+ years of experience in financial services, operations, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in Operational or Risk Management, or other control functions is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of businesses/products offered by major financial institutions and risk disciplines.
  • Ability to identify problems and work with a manager to develop solutions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter who can work effectively in a multi-tasking role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Additional skills, experience, and qualifications

The following additional qualifications are considered advantageous but are not required for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience with automated solutions such as Alteryx, Python, and UI Path is a plus.
