Job Description

As a data scientist with the Wholesale Payments Data and Analytics team, you will be responsible for pulling data and creating dashboards for large clients along with managing the queue of projects for the rest of the team. This position requires a strong self-starter who can proactively engage a virtual, cross-organizational team with limited formal direction. You will be responsible to establish a repeatable process to perform validation of various analyses as well as ad hoc support of large client merchants. This will include pulling data in SQL or Splunk and creating visualizations in Tableau or Excel as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a high level of responsiveness to client ad-hoc requests related to payment performance analysis. Steps include data collection, synthesis, and translation of results into concrete actionable solutions in support of those clients. Specific tasks include writing and running SQL queries, creating Tableau visualizations and producing excel spreadsheets
  • Validation of team’s ad hoc analyses
  • Creation of automated processes to validate ad hoc analytics by other team members.
  • Maintenance of documentation of maker-checker and validation processes as well as Salesforce queue

Requirements:

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, communication and presentation skills
  • Consulting orientation with the ability to influence both internal and external business partners.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Self-starter with out-of-the-box problem-solving skills
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and keep numerous projects on track
  • Basic awareness of Big Data technologies and their applications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT)
  • Experience writing SQL queries using analytical functions. automation scripting is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Tableau
  • Ability to maintain and manage work queue of ad hoc analysis
  • Excellent analytical and logical thinking to understand and analyze complex business processes
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, detail-oriented, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment, be flexible, follow tight deadlines, organize, and prioritize work
  • Be a team player who shows commitment and dedication while maintaining a positive attitude and high level of performance on high profile/time-sensitive initiatives
